This is Treacle. She is one of 2 twin girls who live in my Valentine's house. I am not entirely sure which family she is actually from - I've always been terrible about remembering the company names of these families. I'll google it later, and edit my listing to include that. I ended up with 2 of these adult size figures. They must have come with some lot from eBay some years ago. I think its so cute how this particular bear sculpt has small ears than the more recent Cuddle bear (and most recent Biscuit bears.) It gives them a totally different look.
Treacle (and her soon to be dressed twin sister, Molasses) live in my Valentines Day home. My V-Day house is one of my 4 Greenleaf Buttercup kits (I adore that house, I really do. I had to have 4 of them...) I've gotten a lot of good work done on that house over the last few days, and I will be updating my blog with that info in a few days. I'm going to try and finish the clap boarding on it tonight, but we will see how that goes!
Back to Treacle....My plan is to dress each twin in a different main color. Eventually, they will have a second or even third outfit, but I have so many to make just ONE outfit for that I can't really think ahead too much for these 2. I do know that I want Treacle's main color to be pink, and Molasses' main color to be red. They are pretty much identical, so the only way I know I will be able to tell them apart will be by what they are wearing.
I don't have much V-Day fabric. I bought 2 pieces this year before it was all snatched up. (I'm still bummed about 1 piece getting away from me - I was hoping to make the V-Day house couch out of it, but it is long gone by now....) The 2 fabrics that I did buy both happen to be pink. I decided to go with the fabric you see Treacle wearing as I originally was coordinating fabrics with aprons. Treacle's apron will be a purplish pink, which goes really well with her dress fabric. I decided to worry about it later and make the aprons when both twins are dressed.
I've taken a major break from sewing this year, due to my health issues, so this dress was the first CC dress I sewed in weeks. I usually fray check my edges, but I didn't want to bother with that, so I just zig zagged the seam edges, which worked really nicely. I actually prefer to do that than to fray check, though I might just stick to the fray check when I open my Etsy store back up. That, though will be TBD. I had forgotten just how quickly these little dresses go together using a sewing machine. The majority of the sewing that I HAVE done this year has been hand sewing. (Which is a good skill to develop, it just takes 3 times as long to finish anything. Which is okay by me.) I had her dress done in probably under 30 minutes. My original plan was to make her a Lolita style head band. I had it pictured out all in my head, and it looked fantastic. In reality, though, it looked stupid. So I nixed that and instead just sewed her the bow you see her wearing. I will admit to not doing a very good job on her bow. By that time, I wanted to be through, so I just went with what I had and finished it so I could put it on her. Overall, though, I think it looks adorable!
When I make Molasses' dress, I'll do a different style, I think. Maybe one with a white collar? Or maybe, I'll just do the same style as Treacle's, though in the only appropriately sized V-Day print that I have. I just think it would be fun to differentiate their personalities with their basic style. Like maybe Treacle is fancier and flightier than her more practical sister. I like that idea, so I'll likely go with that.
