The First 'Introduction' post

I started this blog however long ago - last year? The year before? I've been busy with other things, and still hadn't quite gotten things settled enough to give any cohesion to starting this blog, let alone keeping up with posting on it. Or not having to edit anything that I DID post to death.

At this point, I've gotten really happily settled in the way I am going to do my dollhouses, my Critters and my smallest resin dolls. I might tweak a few things here or there, but it is contently settled at this point. I haven't really made any adjustments to my plans in months, which is a really, really nice feeling. I'll just delete the other dollhouse blog that I attempted to have, as my Critter and dollhouse worlds have completely combined.

I tend to be a little bit obsessive with themes for my dollhouses. I can't help it. Themes are so satisfying to me soul that the thought of NOT having a theme is so weird that I can't imagine what on earth I would do with it. I enjoy other people's work that isn't themed. But for me - my mind instantly goes to "what is this one's theme?" And I am utterly obsessed with holidays. For those of you who have watched 'Nightmare Before Christmas' that introduction is just thrilling. All the doorways into these holiday worlds? Its such a magical idea! I wouldn't say that that movie is why I am doing holiday themed houses. But, it was a delight to see.

Not all of my houses are holiday themed. I have other fixations, too. I have, for example, the Mouse House AKA the Candy house. I had collected these candy themed scrapbook sheets for a long time. I finally got to use some of them up last year in putting together mu Candy house. My candy house is my only MDF house, and I truly do not love the MDF. I love my house, but if I could snap my fingers and change the material to wood, I would so do it. I am not quite done with papering it, and I have to admit that my first papering attempts on it were not free from disaster and blunder, and therefor not perfectly done. Ugh, how I am going to hide the glue smudges, I know not. I will do a blog post on that house specifically. This is just kind of my First Post, getting something on this blog to start my inspiration as to putting things actually on said blog. So, no pics in this post!

I will also have a shabby chic house. Or Rose Cottage as I think I am going to call it. I do really love shabby chic, and a really pretty, delicate flowery cottage would just be so pretty! Its my Astor Cottage,, and I think a tudor house just lends itself so well to that style of decor.

I will be doing my goth house, or my black house. Its the Black Orchid, and I plan to do everything black and white with a delightfully spooky, gothy flair. i kind of regret the way that I started to finish the outside of the house. It's going to take literally forever and a half to finish. And I just don't feel inspired to work on it since my association with doing the work is still a little sad.

I have 2 houses that are going to be more seasonal inspired rather than holiday. Maybe I should say 3. One is my Autumnal house. Its my tiniest, and I have these wonderful autumnal papers that I got to put on the walls. Unfortunately, water got spilled on some of them. I will still be able to use enough of them to still be able to enjoy the vision I had in my head when I bought the papers. One of my other seasonal houses is one that I am calling the Summer house. The paper that I bought for it is lemons and strawberries. I am still slightly on the fence about the strawberries, but I love the papers, so why not? Strawberries  are a delight to have in the early summer, so it does fit. The lemon paper for the other area of the house is just cheerful and bright. My third and final seasonal house is the Garden house. I really worked the decor around my Gardenbed Calico Critter family. They were my first family, and always the ones left without a house. So, I took one of my Orchids (1 of 2) and turned it into their house. Its sort of a summer house, partly a harvest house, but just pretty much a Garden house, covering all the months of the life of a garden in the feeling that I want to create. I completely lucked out when I found a scrapbook paper that was GARDEN SEED PACKS!!!! In the right scale. I was so excited, I just couldn't believe that I found something so utterly perfect! The other paper that I bought is yellow sunflowers. The papers go pretty well together. I just have to decide if I am going to do one paper upstairs and the other downstairs, or do 2 papers in the downstairs and one in the upstairs. That'll come as I figure out what I want to do with the inside.

So, the state of all of my dollhouses is: finished shells. Without the roofs. I'm terrified to see if they still fit on their shelving with their roofs. If not, it'll be agony, but I will cross that terrifying bridge if I have to. I'll be able to cross it, moving shelves etc, but good heavens I don't want to deal with that as I PAINTED AROUND  the wall brackets holding said shelves to the walls. So yes, I will worry about that much, much later.

My Mouse House is painted, and the wall paper has started. I think I got 2 rooms done before I smartly just took a break last Spring. Since then, I painted the Halloween house black. I am clapboarding a couple of my other houses, but have had so little time to work on them that I haven't finished anything more. I did buy some papers and a few decorations for the Valentines house.

That was the house I hoped to start working on in January, and very little got done. That's also the house that I plan to keep working on next, so that'll be the subject of my next blog post. With pics!
